Following the latest announcement of Hong Kong offering full guarantee on all bank deposits as well as extreme measures taken by various countries to boost confidence in their financial systems, The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) commented that it is examining these measures and will ensure that banks in Singapore are not disadvantaged. This may mean the possibility of MAS guaranteeing bank deposits in Singapore as well.
