With immediate effect, The Singapore Government will guarantee all bank deposits till 31 Dec 2010. The guarantee will cover cover all Singapore Dollar and foreign currency deposits of individual and non-bank customers in banks, finance companies and merchant banks licensed by The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
All Small School Buses Must Have Seat Belts by 2011
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will require all existing small school buses (with maximum 15 seating capacity) to have forward-facing seats and equipped with three-point seat belts by 31 Dec 2011. For other existing small non-school buses, they will have 2 more years i.e. up till 31 Dec 2013 to comply. The Singapore Government will help to bear part of the cost of retrofitting the seat belts by offering financial aid to existing small bus owners.
And with effect from 1 April 2009, all new small buses must have forward-facing seats with retractable three-point seat belts before they can be registered.
Pokka and Khong Guan Products from Singapore Are Safe
The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore said it has tested and found both Pokka and Khong Guan products manufactured in Singapore to be safe. This is after reports that Vietnam had found melamine in some Pokka milk-related products that are produced in Singapore as well as Malaysia detecting unsafe amount of melamine in some Khong Guan branded biscuits.
Petrol Prices Are Going South!
Drivers rejoice! Yesterday, petrol prices went down by S$0.05/litre while diesel prices dropped by $0.10/litre. Their prices have been adjusted down 9 times since July 2008.
