By next month (December 2008), passengers of some 600 SMRT Taxis will be able to pay for their taxi fare using the ez-link card. Similar to buses and trains, the passenger just need to place the ez-link card on the payment reader and the taxi fare will be automatically debited from the card. There will be no administrative charges until 2010.
SMRT will complete installation of the ez-link card payment reader on it’s entire taxi fleet of about 3,000 by March 2009.
