The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) will lift the ban on the sale of China milk products that was imposed on 19 September 2008 in three phases. In Phase 1, low-risk products will be released. Followed by medium-risk products in Phase 2 and finally higher-risk products in Phase 3. All these China products must pass final checks by AVA before being released for sale.
The China milk products – butter, ghee and nondairy creamer in phase 1 have cleared the final checks and will be released for sale with immediate effect. The rest of the products in phase 1, phase 2 and 3 will be tested and released in the next two to three weeks.
Phase 1 : Low-risk China Products
- Butter
- Ghee
- Non-dairy creamer
- Cereals
- Products made in China using milk from other countries as ingredient
For products manufactured in China but use milk sourced from other countries, it will be released when importers present evidence of sources of milk ingredients.
Phase 2 : Medium-risk China Products
- Bread
- Cake
- Chocolate
- Biscuits and crackers
- Candies
- Other confectionery products
Phase 3 : Higher-risk China Products
- Liquid milk
- Ice-cream
- Milk protein
- Whey protein
