According to the World Economic Forums’ The Global Gender Gap Report 2008, Singapore has moved down 7 places to 84th place (among 130 countries) for gender equality.
This report measures gaps between male and female in 4 key areas – economic participation & opportunity, educational attainment, health & survival and political empowerment. The drop in placing is attributed to lower scores in economic participation and political empowerment.
