The Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC), Singapore’s national registry for domain names will allow registration for the first time, single-character SG domain names such as http://www.A.sg. Starting from 1 December 2008 to 9 January 2009, businesses, organisations and individuals can register any of the 26 English alphabets across 7 .SG categories – .sg, com.sg, net.sg, org.sg, gov.sg, edu.sg and per.sg.
But there’s a catch, each single-character SG domain will cost a whopping S$20,000 and if there are more than one registration for a domain, it will be converted to a bidding process with a start bid price of S$20,000.
