Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced that the 2009 Budget will be brought forward from February to January 2009. Even prior to that, the Government will be lending an IMMEDIATE helping hand to retrenched workers as well as small & medium companies (SME) that are facing difficulties in getting loans due to banks’ stricter lending policy during the current financial turmoil. The various Government ministries will make known the details publicly this week.

As energy prices are heading south, Mr Lee believes that the high electricity prices are set to drop in the upcoming electricity tariff adjustment in January 2009.
