In 2009, ministers and top civil servants in Singapore will see their annual salary fall by up to 19%. This is due to the fact that a major component of their yearly salary is made up of variable payments linked to the GDP growth of Singapore. With a weaker economy, variable payments will inevitably drop. The following are the annual salary in 2009 for the President, PM, Ministers, Top Civil Servants & MPs:
President: S$3.14 million (drop by 19%)
Prime Minister: S$3.04 million (drop by 19%)
Ministers [Ministerial Grade (MR4)]: S$1.57 million (drop by 18%)
Top Civil Servants [Entry Superscale Grade (SR9)]: S$353,000 (drop by 12%)
Members of Parliament: S$190,000 (drop by 16%)
