By June 2009, patients requiring surgery will need to fork out less from their pockets. Medisave withdrawal limits for each surgical table (.PDF), that starts from S$150 for Table 1A to S$5,000 for Table 7C will be increased significantly to between S$250 for Table 1A to S$7,550 for Table 7C.
One the examples provided is an eye cataract operation (Table 4A Surgery). Before the changes, patients can only withdraw up to S$1,400 from their Medisave account for this operation. But after the liberalisation, they can withdraw up to S$2,150. This means patients need to fork S$750 less from their own pockets.
